Start with the installation point, not just the split ratio
A request for a 1x8, 1x16 or 1x32 PLC splitter is incomplete when the project location and connection role are omitted. The same ratio can be requested in different package formats and can connect to different passive-fiber lines. A PLC splitter supplier needs the buyer’s requested configuration, not an assumed network layout.
Create one BOM line for each installation point. Name the buyer-controlled location or equipment reference, then record the requested splitter format and the connected side of the passive path. This makes quotations easier to compare and lets a revision apply only to the line that changed.
Build a line schedule that stays clear during revisions
1. Identify the requested splitter configuration
- Line ID, BOM revision, issue date and installation-point or equipment reference.
- Requested split ratio, such as 1x8, 1x16 or 1x32, and the package format required by the buyer.
- Input/output interface, connector or pigtail requirement where applicable.
- Quantity, labels, packing request and destination country.
2. Connect the line to the project BOM
- Upstream and downstream buyer references, such as feeder, distribution or drop-path line IDs.
- Related ODF, terminal box, adapter, pigtail, drop cable or accessory line only where the project requires it.
- Applicable drawing, route schedule or equipment reference, plus unresolved buyer decisions.
- A change note showing whether the revision affects the ratio, package, interface, quantity or connected item.
Common PLC splitter RFQ mistakes
Using one generic line for multiple locations. Different installation points may require different package formats or interfaces. Separate them rather than asking a supplier to infer a single configuration.
Choosing a package without the placement reference. If the location is not final, state that buyer confirmation is pending. Do not replace an open project decision with an assumed cabinet, closure or rack arrangement.
Listing connected products without a relationship. Give related items their own BOM line and show the line reference or installation point that connects them.
Related products to quote when the BOM calls for them
A PLC splitter line may connect to FTTH ODN product sourcing, FTTH drop cable, ODF and patch panel requirements, fiber optic pigtail sets, fiber optic adapters or FTTH fast connector and accessory lines. Include only the lines needed for the actual connection path.
