That context does not choose a cable design. For a buyer, it is a prompt to keep each trunk, harness, fanout or conversion line attached to the already-approved connection map, panel/cassette record and BOM revision.
Current Market Signals
The Fiber Broadband Association’s April 2026 AI report announcement describes fiber as core infrastructure for large-scale AI systems and discusses the relationship between compute growth and longer infrastructure timelines. Use this only as project-planning context: it does not prescribe a particular MTP/MPO configuration.

Turn the Connection Map Into Reviewable RFQ Lines
1. Identify the role before naming the cable
- Assign a buyer-controlled line ID and describe the requested role: trunk, branch harness, fanout, conversion cable or another documented assembly role.
- Reference the controlled drawing, rack layout or BOM revision that defines the path. Do not use an AI or data-center label as a replacement for the design record.
2. Capture both ends and the connected context
- State end A and end B interfaces as supplied by the buyer, plus the related equipment, panel, cassette or module-box reference where relevant.
- Record requested fiber count and mode, connector/end configuration and breakout-leg schedule as individual RFQ fields.
3. Keep mapping under buyer control
- Attach the project-defined port map, channel drawing or polarity reference when it applies.
- Flag any missing mapping, interface or connected-hardware information for clarification; do not ask a supplier to infer a topology from an MTP/MPO term alone.
4. Complete the commercial handover
- Put length, quantity, labels, packing request, destination and current BOM/drawing revision on the applicable line or schedule.
- Group identical buyer-controlled lines only when the buyer’s documentation makes them identical.
