Start With the Cable Assembly Role
A fiber optic cable assembly supplier needs to know whether the buyer is asking for a patch cord, pigtail, MTP/MPO trunk, branch harness, fanout cable or a custom pre-terminated assembly. The same connector name can mean different construction details when the cable is used for distributor stock, a data center trunk route, a telecom room, an FTTH terminal or an OEM kit.
For faster review, separate standard stock items from project-specific fiber assemblies. A distributor order may focus on SKU, length and packing; a project order usually needs connector mapping, label rules, endpoint references and related passive hardware.

Common RFQ Mistakes
- Using only a general term such as fiber assemblies without connector, polish, fiber mode or length.
- Combining LC patch cords, SC/APC jumpers and MTP/MPO harness cables into one mixed line item.
- Leaving out packing and labeling requirements for distributor or OEM orders.
- Sending a data center assembly request without polarity, fiber count, endpoint or panel/cassette information.
- Asking for a custom cable without a drawing, sample photo, reference model or acceptance note.
