Why an ODF BOM needs a change note
An ODF request can look simple until one change affects port interfaces, pigtails, splice trays, module boxes or the connected cable route. If the request only says “revise panel,” a supplier cannot reliably tell whether the rack format, adapter layout, cable entry, label scheme or related fiber lines changed too.
Use a buyer-controlled issue number for the BOM and give each distinct configuration its own line. The goal is not to impose a supplier test method or unverified performance value; it is to make the requested hardware and the buyer’s applicable drawing references clear enough for quotation review.
Build the RFQ in two layers
1. Panel and termination configuration
- Line reference, BOM revision and issue date.
- ODF, rack-mount patch panel, wall-mount box or MPO module-box format.
- Mounting context, required port or termination capacity, and front/rear access expectations.
- Adapter interface and any pigtail, splice-tray, cassette or cable-entry requirement.
- Connected side: patch cord, MTP/MPO trunk, module box, feeder cable or FTTH/ODN route as applicable.
2. Change-control and handover fields
- Which line changed, the prior and current buyer reference, and the reason for the change.
- Whether quantities, labels, packing instructions or connected items are also affected.
- The drawing, port map or connection schedule supplied by the buyer, with revision identifier.
- The buyer contact responsible for clarifying a conflict before a quotation is finalized.
Common RFQ mistakes
Changing a port count without the interface. A capacity change may affect adapter layout, pigtails or cassettes. Put the interface and relevant connected line on the same change record.
Combining distinct connection paths into one line. Separate ODF lines where mounting, adapter type, access direction or attached fiber path differs. This prevents a quote from blending unlike configurations.
Listing accessories without a placement reference. State the intended panel, cabinet, splice point or cable entry for pigtails, trays and adapters. If a drawing is not final, label it as buyer confirmation pending rather than assuming a layout.
Related products to price together when required
An ODF patch panel supplier can review the hardware more efficiently when the related connection path is visible. Link only the items your project needs: fiber optic pigtails for ODF termination, fiber optic adapters, MTP/MPO cable assembly options, patch cord connections, or PLC splitter sourcing details for an FTTH or ODN distribution point.

Send a reviewable ODF BOM
Share the panel or ODF format, required interfaces, related cable path, quantities and the latest buyer drawing or change note. Lumafyn can use those buyer-supplied details to prepare a product quotation path.
